Die Hochzeitsgeschenke einer Prinzessin

1893 heiratete die Prinzessin Marie von Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha, eine Enkelin von Queen Victoria in Sigmaringen.
Die Hochzeitsgeschenke wurden der staunenden Bevölkerung von Coburg auf dem Schloss der Brauteltern präsentiert und die Zeitungen schrieben:

Auf Anordung der Herzoglich Edinburgischen Herrschaften ist die Besichtigung der Geschenke auch dem Publicum gestattet. Von dieser Erlaubnis machte besonders die Damenwelt in grosser Zahl Gebrauch. Es war aber auch eine Fülle kostbarer Herrlichkeiten da zu schauen.
Inmitten des prächtigen Saales waren auf einer fast die ganze Länge des Saales einnehmenden Tafel in geschmackvoller Anordnung die glänzenden Geschenke aufgestellt, welche Liebe und Verehrung der Hohen Braut dargebracht haben.
Meisterwerke antiker und moderner Gold- und Silberschmiede Kunst, allerhand Prunkgeräthe, Bilder und sonstige Kunstwerke stellten sich den bewundernden Blicken dar.

In 1893 the Princess of Saxon-Coburg-Gotha, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria, was married.
The wedding gifts were displayed at her parents' castle in Coburg, for all the townspeople to come and marvel at. The newspapers of the day described it so:
By orders of the royal court of the Duke of Edinburgh, it has been announced that the townspeople are invited to come to the castle and take a look at the marvelous wedding gifts of the Princess. Indeed, a great number of women took the opportunity to gaze in awe at the tables full of amazing gifts in honor and love for the Princess. But not only women, also many men could not resist the urge to come and see the array of precious items.
In the large hall, lovingly and neatly arranged on a table nearly filling the room, were so many shiny, sparkling, modern & antique items: artworks, golden jewelry, silver jewelry and tableware, pictures, sculptures, one could hardly believe one's eyes.
